Tips to Improve Your Migraine Symptoms
Make Sure You Sleep Well
Sleep is very important and a lack of sleep has been linked to: blood sugar imbalances, higher stress levels, obesity, mental problems, as well as many other health issues including the worsening of migraine symptoms.
Here are some tips to help make sleep a priority:
- Remind yourself: Instead of a wake-up alarm, consider setting a bedtime alarm. Set your phone or alarm clock for 30 minutes before the time you need to be asleep and when it goes off, stop doing what you are doing and get ready for bed.
- Avoid the blue: blue light can interfere with proper sleep hormone production. Put the electronics away at a reasonable time to help with this.
- Create a comfortable environment:Create a sleep environment that you love and use it only for sleep. Try to avoid working or watching TV in your bedroom. Covering your windows to block outside light can also help.
Drinking enough water is one of the most important ways to keep you healthy. Dehydration is a major trigger of many different health issues, including migraine symptoms.
A good tip is to begin your day with a big glass of fresh lemon water. This helps the body hydrate at the beginning of the day and is also great for digestion and the skin.
You can also keep a mason jar of water or a non-plastic water bottle with you throughout the day to remind you to drink and try to limit beverages like coffee or alcohol that don’t help hydration.
As discussed before, Chiropractic adjustments to the upper neck and skull can help relieve migraine symptoms, as quickly as within a day. Regular care can also help prevent or prolong the onset of migraine symptoms.
